Taxi Squad is a text-message substitute-player matching service for adult hockey leagues, operated by 805 Maverick. It helps teams find available subs (goalies and skaters) and helps subs find games.

Any player on a registered adult-league team may request a sub for that team. Pickup-game organizers may request a sub for their skate. Rink staff and rink-affiliated personnel may also submit requests. All players and goalies must have a current USA Hockey membership on file with the rink. If it is not on file, you must show proof to the scorekeeper during warmups.

Taxi Squad does not charge subs to be on the list, and there is no charge to a sub who covers a league game. Pickup games may carry a fee — arrange that directly with the pickup organizer. Any ice, drop-in, or league fees are set and collected by the rink, not by Taxi Squad or 805 Maverick.

By checking the consent box on the request or join form, you agree to receive SMS text messages from Taxi Squad / 805 Maverick about substitute-player requests. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Your consent and its timestamp are stored on your record. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

We text subs in your division first, then nearby divisions. The requesting team approves or declines each sub by text. If no one is available, we ask before searching lower divisions.

Taxi Squad does not guarantee a substitute will be available for every game. Eligibility and rink rules still apply.

Taxi Squad is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to sign up for text messages or to request a substitute. Players under 18 may participate in adult leagues only with parent permission plus hockey director and opposing team approval, and their communication with Taxi Squad must go through a parent or guardian.

Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your device, and we cannot guarantee that every message will arrive. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for assistance.
